In this lecture Dr Walsh taught us about the quality of computer graphics, and how the quality of graphics that can be created can vary based on the quality of the computer that makes it. A lot of computers that are made for the general public do not possess the graphical processing power that is required to
produce very high quality graphics. However the professor mentioned also how quickly computers are progressing. Every 18 months or so a new computer will have twice the processing power that an equally priced computer would have had previously. In this class, the 3D worlds we have been exploring in real time (like Cloud Party) have been scaled back in terms of their graphics quality because it takes more time to render in real time versus games that have offline rendering. As mentioned, because computers are improving so quickly, soon users
will be able to render MUCH higher quality graphics in real time.
